I draw from elements of Deism, Hinduism, and Quaker/Friends style Christianity.

I do think there is a higher power, basically the universe itself, though I don't think there's all that much reason for it to overly concern itself with us.

I do believe that there was likely a really good spiritual leader named Christ who tried to steer people in the right direction a couple thousand years ago. Unfortunately his immediate followers (notably the apostles) used his death as the means to grab power for themselves and set up a church full of people who've kept doing that for ages now.

I think there is much to be learned from ancient knowledge, though of course it can't be applied to today's world literally.

I sometimes go to Friends meetings, though the pure Christianity doesn't quite fit with my spiritual realm. I love the activist mentality in their church though, and the lack of preachers and embracing of silence is the coolest form of worship out there. So I participate, but don't join.

religion is a joke, but some people "need" it, so yeah.. good for them. i believe there is a possibility in the existence of a divine being, but i would never conform to christian or whatever ridiculous constrictive shit religion you can randomly pick. scoff all you want, but i definitely side up with satanism more than any other religion: it gives you freedom and it preaches things that aren't evil but are fucking logical.

i have no religon i think its great that some people can have so much faith in some other worldly being or beings i just happen to lack that sense of devotion without proof but at the same time i hate when peoples religon interferes with other beliefs i.e. abortion, homosexual rights and other such things

So, like, Kierkegaard? Because I know most existentialism philosophers are pretty critical of the Christian faith.

Religion's one of them things that doesn't need to be spoken about or acted upon, but rather felt... I think anyway.

Well the thing is that one feels one's faith and then is forced by conviction to act upon it. All too often people incorrectly act and find that as a way to build the feeling which is backwards and easily manipulated.

Also, they act upon others by "spread the word" but religion should be entirely self focused. The best kind of people that come to religion are ones that feel that there is something wrong with themselves that needs changing. Religion shouldn't be for the self-satisfied.

Religion should be completely self-satisfying. It should be about personal growth and spirituality, not convincing anyone else anything.

I take that "religion shouldn't be for the self-satisfied" as meaning "religion shouldn't be for those who are smug about it". I've come across plenty of people who seem to beleive that their religion makes them better than others - they're the ones I would call self-satisfied. Assuming that that's the sort of thing that pbradley is referring to, I'm with him on that. Religion/faith should be inclusive, not exclusive.
