Why? I know girls in bands and they never went to any form of music camp. Neither did I or any of my friends in bands and we still play live.

I don't completely follow you. Of course there are plenty of people who can play and don't need to go to a camp to do so. For me I could do it and go on stage after three months of picking up an instrument. My window of opportunity to do this is pretty small since I'm in my 30s and planning on having a family at some point. I can't have a career, a kid and a band. Not saying it couldn't be done - it I'm sure is, but I personally don't want to juggle all that.

So wouldn't that have something to do with the way certain girls themselves think, rather than what males or anybody else think of them as female musicians?
What males or anyone else thinks of me as a musician had nothing to do with why I went to camp. I think that's precisely my point. Everyone else is attributing it to being a certain type of girl, i.e. one with issues of self. I'm saying that's bogus, especially in the realm of kids' camp.

I might be speaking soley for myself on this one, but I have been self-concious, for the most part reserved, and shy since I was in the 4th grade (age 9). Just because you're not an adult yet, that doesn't mean that you can't make a decision for yourself.

I've been depressed since I was 13 and I will definitly say that I've used "music as therapy for my lagging self-esteem". Infact I've written plenty of piano peices before and the most beautiful one I've ever written (in my opinion) was when I was 14 years old and crying the entire time because I felt inadequete as a human being.

I find it disgusting that when most people grow older so does their ignorance towards children and people my age. I know plenty of kids that are smart and more knowing then a lot of the adults in my life. You make it sound like a camp for retarded kids or pre-schoolers.

Yes. The parents sending them to camp refers to the financial situation, not the kids making decisions. Most eight-year-olds don't have $400 that they earned themselves to use as they wish. The camp does fundraisers so that they can offer girls who want to go but can't afford it a little "scholarship." The Ladies' Rock Camp I went to was such a fundraiser.

You completely misread me. I was sarchastically referring to the way other people had labelled everyone who goes to camp. I'm sure your music is beautiful and I'm glad you have an outlet to express yourself. A lot of people find that in music.

I just want to know one thing.

Are the girls gonna have to be escorted across this angry thread by the police to get to the rock camp?
