I rarely start them (I like the #3-4 spot) but the hive of angry bees they bring is better than fireworks.

To me parody threads are like ''prog'' music: mostly shit, rarely well done , but when you come across one that hits the spot, you tend to linger and perhaps outstay your welcome.

I was actually thinking about making an official ''parody thread'' thread....

every parody thread has SOMEBODY in it complaining.

message boards are the ultimate democratic process, offending threads that nobody wants to see will fall quickly. so who cares?? if bandwidth is a problem, just don't click!

even though I'm guilty of a parody or two myself, it's usually after there's already been an explosion with each thread becoming worse than the one before it. most don't last but an hour or two, but those that do become epic. that's the internet for ya. I'll also admit that passing out facepalms is verrrrry funny to me. dif'rent strokes.

my burning question is: why let the little things bother you? I'm all for taking a stand...but against parody threads???

Yeah, but why so often these parody threads leave you with the impression that not even the person who starts them find them funny? I think 90% of the time it's only a case of someone being stubborn just because of other posters saying that they're stupid, not because they themselves find them amusing.

I really am not a big fan of coming across cunts, dicks, and asses unexpectedly on nearly every thread, but who cares. If you are going into the den of thieves that's what yr gonna find. I'm sure there are alot of yall who don't like me butting my nose into every thread and spouting out my opinion. if the internet is a democracy then it's my goddamn democratic right to tell people to shut the goddamned hell up whenever i goddamn choose. if i was to make people shut up then that would be undemocratic and the closest thing to making people shut up is trying to get a mod to ban them, and i've never done that and i don't understand why people do.
and for what it's worth i think pooter and westernquinox are both way more entertaining than most of what passes for humour around here, i'm just saying that because i know people have tried to get them both banned.
