Written by Staff Monday, 25 September 2006 There are less than two months to go before Brainwaves: the 10th Anniversary of Brainwashed festival. Tickets are on sale now online here at Brainwashed in the commerce section, at the Regent Theatre, and in person at Twisted Village. In addition to the three days of music and movies, November 17-19, plans for the pre-party and aftershow are coming together. This is the only place in North America to see performances by the likes of Thighpaulsandra, Aranos, z'ev, Christoph Heemann and Andreas Martin, plus the theatre will be very accommodating to rare performances by Non, Troum, Nadja, Irr.App.(Ext)., Windy & Carl, the Dresden Dolls, Colin Potter and Steven Stapleton.
Brainwashed.com celebrates 10 years with 'Brainwaves,' a three day music festival in Boston. On November 17/18/19, friends and family of Brainwashed will be performing at the Regent Theatre. The current lineup includes Non, Thighpaulsandra, Christoph Heemann and Andreas Martin, Volcano the Bear, DJ Steven Stapleton and Colin Potter (of Nurse With Wound), Irr.App.(Ext.), Jessica Bailiff, Windy & Carl, V/Vm and the Caretaker, Goodiepal, Troum, Aranos, Edward Ka-Spel and the Silverman, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Landing, Howard Stelzer, Charles Atlas, Cock ESP, Nadja (Aidan Baker), Greg Davis, z'ev, and the Dresden Dolls. There is still planning for some major surprise guests as well as music video and film screenings in the planning. Additionally, RRRecords in Lowell will be presenting a Rare Records fare. Only 500 tickets will be available. Travel tips, hotel specials, and more details can be found at www.brainwashed.com/10. Brainwaves is being gratiously sponsored by RRRecords, Free Internet Press, Crouton Music, Kranky, Jnana Records, ArchEnemy, and WZBC.
Like Brainwashed, this is not a profitable venture and support is still much appreciated.
Brainwashed was launched April 16, 1996 as a domain to host Web sites for a couple musical artists and soon expanded to include many more artists and small record labels. In 1998 it began The Brain, a weekly online magazine featuring music reviews, new release news, and concert news from the staff and contributors to the various sites on Brainwashed.com, but the popularity increased as it became the first weekly online music magazine to include sound samples in every review. By 1999, Brainwashed began a full time Internet radio stream. In 2000, reacting to price fixing lawsuits and other irresponsible practices, Brainwashed banned all major labels from coverage on The Brain. In 2003, The Eye, a streaming video feature was launched, featuring interviews and performance clips of some of the world's most innovative musical acts. In 2004, Brainwashed launched a Podcast, long before it became a household word. In 2005, Brainwashed became a daily content provider, and in 2006, Brainwashed celebrates 10 years online by holding a music fest in its hometown of Boston.
Brainwashed.com currently hosts over 50 Web sites for musical acts, over 15 sites for recording companies, two stores, and serves reviews and other features daily. To this day, Brainwashed maintains its disdain for major labels and calls for an end to the RIAA, continuing to present a true alternative, by support and coverage of independent artists and labels worldwide.

Looks to be a great time. I wish I could afford yet another cross-country trip for yet another killer festival on the east coast, because this lineup is really amazing.
