king crimson - discipline
"e.g. records" 1981

King Crimson made a vital progression with this album, instead of keeping with the same sound like so many of their progressive rock contemporaries. Robert Fripp’s guitar lines have never been so refreshing while Tony Levin’s chapstick device and Bill Bruford’s expansive drum sound have all added another layer to King Crimson’s ever growing domain. Red may be more influential and sentimental, but Discipline manages to better it in a lot of different ways. It’s sad that In The Court of the Crimson King is considered their best, because in reality, Discipline and Red betters it out by a wide margin. If you’re looking for something that’s on a complete different level than everything else, Discipline just may interest you.

And... if you've not listened to Red yet, get that first. That record is amazing... but I like this one more personally.

Really really really good album. I'm hesitant to call it "excellent" since it has Matte Kudasai (sleeping in a chair is what I feel like doing when listening to it), but there's no denying the greatness of the other six tracks. Thela Hun Ginjeet is definitely in my top five KC songs.

I love Matte Kudasai!

And Red, god, what an album. I've listened to this more though for some reason.

i hate the production on this album, but i should relisten to it.

at the very least, the title track was a huge influence for battles, don cab and hella.
