I live in a place full of 'chavs' and it's a place where I don't into town at night because of the aggressive atmosphere, not to mention fights, broken bottles and vomit. But the two things are not necessarily related.

well, i did start my post with saying that i hate the term "chav" if i used it after, then its only because there is no other simple term to use. as i said, i call them scallys.
its not snobbery, its not a class thing, its just a culture of people who take pride in everything i stand against. and it angers me because they are everywhere. at least in my city and the surounding areas.
i dont care if people have different views to me, but the whole point is that tey force their shit on you.
i live closer to a town than i do a city and i havent been into that town at night for almost 10 years. it makes me feel bad. the scene on a weekend night time. all of us in the uk probly know the scene.

so, yeah, i agree that the term chav is shite. its not to do with council estates and its not to do with the working class. anyone who thinks so must not have encountered it as much as others. ive known what people would call chavs from working class, middle class and also upper class backgrounds. its about being a cunt, not about how much money your parents had when you were growing up.
and while the fashion that everybody associates with them is a fashion that is much more popular on council estates, it doesnt mean anything. alot of my mates back home look like the sterotypical chav, but they are not. they wear burberry and "tracky bottoms" and sovereigns but they are nice people and they are generaly responsible, well meaning citizens. most of em are from council estates, whilse go up to the more middle class areas and all the kidsn are fucking tossers walking around throwing bottles at cars and passersby.
its a mentality. and i hate it. im not a snob and im not trying to group the working class together and label them as chavs.
