I want to make some drum triggers, but first I need to get a module. Does anyone play with electric drums at all, or know of any decent modules?

use a laptop with sampler, you can get yamaha triggers that are around $35au each DT10 or DT20 but then you need a converter such as a roland tmc6

Yeah, I'm sorta looking to not spend laptop range prices

I don't really want a computer to bog down my kit either. But I already have a roland TR-626, so maybe I will just build a converter. I already found a wicked site with plans and I already have most of the parts so maybe I will go with that

Thanks for the info. Here is the link to the convertor if anyone else is interested: http://www.edrum.info/

if you have the 626 then you just need to buy the triggers

The TR-626 has a bunch of seperate outputs, but I don't think they can be used as trigger inputs. Do you think they can? Maybe there's something in one of the menus! I just got the manual for it off roland's site

what r the inputs??? with equipment like that sometimes the IOs are from the same 1/4 inch jack plug. This is usually done with a tip/ring/sleeve jack rather than say a tip/sleeve like an instrument cable. With these you are able to have the signal travel both ways down the cable with the correct wiring configuration. An example would be plugging an outboard compressor into the insert of a mixing console (in an unbalanced config) the tip of the 1/4 jack (depending on the console) sends the signal to the compressor input, the compressor output then returns the signal down the ring part of the 1/14 inch jack.

I looked through the manual and it seems unlikely that it'll work. I mean, the sounds aren't even velocity sensitive or anything. It says the outputs are just outputs for sound by sound access to effects.

Here is a picture of the back, for curiosity's sake.

From left to right: On/off, power supply jack, R/Mono, L, phones, a whole slew of outputs, midi in and out, below is pedal input, trigger out (triggers on rimshot), and tape backup shit.

When I get my $6000 plus dollar electric drumset it's fucking over.....you've been warned.

Good luck with that, zedius.
