Ethiopia Admits Its Fighter Jets Air Bombed Central Somalia

- The Ethiopian government has admitted its fighter jets pounded regions inside Somalia. Ethiopian Information Minister Berhan Hailu has admitted the Ethiopian warplanes struck different locations in central Somalia.
The minister said Ethiopia has run out of patience and taken self-defensive measures against the Islamic Courts that administers most central and southern provinces of the country, including the capital Mogadishu.
An eyewitness said he saw eight Ethiopian warplanes taking part in the air raiding. This is the first air bombing and the first open admission by the Ethiopian government of its involvement in Somalia's internal wars.
The fighting is going on four fronts in central and southern parts of Somalia and the exact number of casualties is hardly known.
Experts fear Ethiopia's insolvement in Somalia's war could influence foreign extremists and Ethiopia's rival enemy Eritrea in. Islamists announced on Saturday Somalia was open for Muslim jihadists around the world to come in and wage their holy war in Somalia.
US government accused Islamists of being al-Qaeda linked members. Islamists denied it has links to al-Qaeda or terrorist organizations.
Residents in Baledweyn said about 8 fighter jets have dropped bombs on Jawil and Kala Beer, settlements near the Ethiopian border.
Islamists allege they have seized number of Ethiopian troops in the fighting in southern parts of the country. The claim cannot be independently confirmed.

meanwhile, over a thousand bodies have been found in the capital alone. thats more then in Baghdad this past week, which shows the scale of violence that Africans are capable of, and the exact reason why the US pulled out of Somalia so quick in the 1990s.

In most situations, there are better ways. But how more radicalised can islamist militias become who kill people for watching the godman soccer world cup?

I was unaware of the US military air strikes on Monday. Let it be known that this is not primarily a Christian versus Islam thing. Ethiopia is split right down the middle between a Christan and Islamic population and has been that way for over a thousand years! And yet historically, there has been more rivalry between Ethiopian Jews (Falasha) and Christians/Muslims rather then Christian against Islam. This is not Palestine. There is no ISLAM vs Christian. In fact, the Jihad declared by the Islamic Courts Union was not against Ethiopians as Christians, or because they are Christians, but rather against the Ethiopian govt regardless of its religious affiliation.


THis was is about stability. Over 25% of Ethiopia's population are Ethnic Somali, and are Somali speaking Muslims. Instability in Somalia, is therefore Instability in Ethiopia, and so the Ethiopians are looking for their best interests. On the streets of Mogadishu, Somalis are not opposed to the Ethiopian troops. They just want the stability of govt, and the freedom to buy and sell. They are Muslim, but they do not support the Islamic Court Union. They just want stablity.
