Lawrence Cook Disaster Unit (10th Anniversary Reunion show, featuring Jason Lescalleet, Greg Kelley of Heathen Shame/Life Partners), Vic Rawlings, Thurston Moore / Bill Nace / Paul Flaherty (Ecstatic Peace), Paper Summer, Work/Death – 18+ $8

Intransitive presents: at The Middle East upstairs -------- Laurence Cook Disaster Unit - 10th Anniversary reunion show by Boston’s legendary anti-jazz assault group. Assembled by Cook (The Godz, Alan Silva, Bill Dixon, etc) in ’98 in order to open for a few Borbetomagus shows in the northeast, The Unit went on to confuse and antagonize audiences sporadically, polarizing audiences (such as the poor indie-rock folks waiting for Superchunk to play, while bouncers had to restrain a band member from pulling down the water pipes) and getting banned from Jacques’ Cabaret for damaging the stage. Featuring the justifiably revered/feared Cook on drums, electronics, metal chains, etc... Greg Kelley (Heathen Shame, Life Partners) on trumpet... Vic Rawlings (The BSC, Mawja) on electronics and cello... and Jason Lescalleet on tapeloops and electronics, The Disaster Unit’s reunion show is an event in the history of Boston noise/jazz/"out" music... don’t miss it! -------- Thurston Moore, Bill Nace, Paul Flaherty - Hot on the heels of their new CD on Ecstatic Peace, Nace (X.O.4) and free jass sax hero Flaherty are joined by a guitar player. -------- Paper Summer - Epic post-shoegaze "rock" glory, featuring Brendan Murray (Ouest). -------- Work/Death - Contrabass drone/noise/thud from Providence, known for his excellent, unpredictable, and wide-ranging tapes on Monorail Tresspassing, Hospital, Tone Filth, I Just Live Here, Ekhein... from deep underground. -------- http://mideastclub.com
