Saturday, August 25th, from Noon to 1 PM Pacific Time marks the Two Year Anniversary of What's This Called? with Ricardo Wang at KPSU!

What's This Called? began as a radio experience at KAOS FM in Olympia in 1993 and ran there until 2003. After a two year hiatus the program returned to the airwaves and the internet streamwaves at KPSU as an early afternoon experience, taking on the usual weekend daytime programming of public radio such as Car Talk and bluegrass music with a healthy dose of the experimental, eclectic, noisy, droney, and dissonant. Whether this is a sign that post-punk iconoclasm has become more acceptable to mainstream society, or just that it's audience has gotten older, remains to be seen. However, the program has certainly made a mission of presenting some of the most avant music ever heard on a Saturday at noon. Though of course in Eastern Europe, it's already nighttime anyway.
