Don't worry. The whole board has been on a bit of a slope for the last couple of months.
You just have to learn to ride it. |

Yes. Regarding their "clean image" as opposed to - for instance - the Rolling Stones I think it's bullshit, with what happened backstage with the drugs and groupies they were no angels. EDIT: I was thinking specifically about their Hamburg period when they took lots of speed to keep themselves awake and gladly "benefited" from the prostitutes, I don't think that their behaviour changed that much afterwards.

Yes, anyway I think the decline started when we lost Hip Priest's very good threads.

The first Melvins and Bad Religion albums are amazing. Isis was pretty consistent until a few albums ago. Everything else you mentioned is awful though.
Pauly, correct me if I'm wrong, and you may have said it on this thread elsewhere, but don't you hate Neurosis? I think that style of music just isn't your thing, man... |

funny - when i was about 22, i saw SY at roseland with my boyfriend and we commented how we were the oldest people there, which was odd considering the band was twice our age. when we came out and saw all the parents waiting for their kids, just to be mean, my boyfriend turned to me in a very concerned voice and said "there was so much drugs in there." one mom nearby just gave her husband this look like "you see!" |

Really surprising.
Neurosis are one of the best bands around. Not something I want to listen to all the time, but when I actually listen to them, I'm surprised at how damn musical they are. They have a few trudging, boring "riff goes up riff goes down" parts on all their albums, but they actually have lots of interesting sounds going in within the structures of their songs, especially on the last few albums. Ah well. |

The Beatles
The Smiths Ramones Nu-Metal Emo/Screamo/Shouto/Saddo/etc.o Freak Folk (is 99% god fucking awful... people who claim to like Joanna Newsom and Animal Collective are deluded) ... the only good freak folk = Espers and Faun Fables (it's a sin that Dawn McCarthy isn't praised like that childlike lunatic Newsom) I've noticed some Cat Power haters in this thread, and although I'm a fan I can absolutely see why some people loathe her. In her defense, I will say, at least she's not Joanna Newsom. |

i agree with you on the last three genres. even though what people considered emo in the 90's is still pretty good to me. i still bring out the first get up kids and promise ring record sometimes. twelve hour turn are still one of the best bands to come out of the 90's to me. anyway, nu-metal is the worst shit to me and it's not just the music (even though it's shit), but in florida redneck 16 year old meth freak dropouts still think that drowning pool is the shit and wearing jncos is the cool thing to do. also, i can't stand their blacken rotting teeth. all nu metal fans, i have come across, have that bad teeth look going on. |
