Yeah , ha . Boys Dont Cry is a bad representation of what they are I think . OR maybe the best ? I cant stand that song . At all .
They're hit or miss with me . Some songs, like All I want , or even that song on The Crow soundtrack , really hit home with me . So much else is like an icepick to the temple . |

The Head on the Door really only has two decent songs on it; "The Blood" and "Sinking." The rest are either boring, by-the-numbers Cure ("A Night Like This") or plain, flat-out stoopid and annoying ("Close To Me," "Six Different Ways," "Screw").
I liked it when it came out, but with each passing year it sounded worse to me. |

You really think "A Night Like This" is by-the-numbers Cure? REALLY? Wow. I like "Kyoto Song" off that album a lot. I want to know what's up with Robert's recent obsession with blowjobs. I think he's referenced them on at least one song on the past three albums.

I haven't paid attention to the lyrics on the last three albums. They're all terrible.
I don't think The Cure could have possibly been "by-the-numbers" in 1985 since they were still expanding into new territory. Nothing on The Head on the Door sounds too much like anything they ever did before. |

Bloodflowers, the self titled, and the new one all have references to it. (The new one's on one of the singles, I can't be arsed to figured out which one) And hey, Bloodflowers was okay. Not GREAT, by any means, but not a total trainwreck, unlike the others.

You know what I like about Ellen Paige? She is a quiet ultra-shy ultra-virgin doll and a sexy fiery dragon lady rolled into one.

I have the Cure's Festival 2005 DVD, but I haven't watched it in years. I mean, I really like a good many of their songs (mostly from the early dark stuff like Seventeen Seconds and Pornography), but by now I think even Robert Smith has grown a bit bored with it all.
Also, the Cure have in their catalog what I consider to be the most unlistenably depressing song of all time, "The Same Deep Water As You"...

the voice of robert smith is so warm. never a male singer sings so good imo. and the cure have extended intros or bridges that take you in the world of the song each time.
"wish" was one of the albums that took me the most time to dig it completly. there was also les thugs's "strike" and sonic youth's "washing machine". |

I love it all. I have their entire discography on my Zune + rarities. They're in my top 5 for sure.
Pornography is probably my favorite. I definitely listen to it most. The Top is really crazy, have you ever watched a live video of The Caterpillar? Oh man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xfxb1dJeY4k Three Imaginary Boys is one of my all-time favorite punk albums. Faith is really cool, Doubt being my favorite track. THAT SONG IS PERFECT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBri3WY2Fs4 Seventeen Seconds is so damn moody and tense... and A Forest is incredible. Carpathian Forest did a really sweet cover of that track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVyBIzxRrvA Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me is very fun, I love when Robert Smith gets funky. HEY HEY HEY!!!! Disintegration and The Head on the Door are classics, of course. The Ross Robinson produced self-titled is neat, I don't know why people rag on it. I like the album art a lot too. I don't really listen to Bloodflowers or 4:13 Dream... but Freakshow is really catchy. Anyone remember them and KoRn doing that acoustic set of Make Me Bad/In Between Days together for KoRn's Unplugged? I shot a load through my jeans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_SvtSQORsg |
