Well, other than it not being in cyrillic, thats not too shabby.

Word of advice though, don't use dobroe, use haHrosho. Sounds silly!

We were taught to use dobroe (and variations) when using the Good Morning, Day, Evening greetings. That's not right?

It is right, very proper sounding though.

You can change the language of your keyboard quite easily! Just go to Control Panel, Languages, and the rest is pretty obvious.

I see. That wasn't that bad. I'm not a big fan of using English letters to spell out Russian, however.

Yeah, I'd love to take a good refresher course, frankly. I used to be fairly fluent writing in cyrillic when I had to everyday. Like I say, though, it's been years and years and I find the alphabet intimidating now, for some reason. I can transpose from cyrillic quickly but not the other way around as easily. And I can "read/hear" the sounds/words when I see cyrillic in your messages, but I can't make my mind go the other direction. Weird how that works.

How do you know Russian?

I'm by no means fluent, but I know enough.

Its easy to forget if you don't use it, more so than other languages. Very hard to master.

Yeah, I went to Russian language school for a whole year in the Air Force, classes every day from 8-4, just in conversational Russian. They used the immersion method. After the first week, whenever we were on campus, we were supposed to speak only in Russian. Even so, even after all that intense training, about a third of the class didn't make the cut on the final exams. I had one of the top scores, but I still felt like I only had the basics down.

Both of my parents have Russian heritage, so I've had aunts, uncles, and especially grandparents that have spoken it for years. Most of them don't use it at all anymore, but I've always wanted to be fluent. Unfortunately my grandparents have passed away so I don't have the best teachers anymore. I'm sort of self-teaching myself now, with what I already know.
