They have that lo-fi indie sound, but originated in the late 80's. Apparently Nirvana covered one of their songs...not that I am a fan of Nirvana.

nirvana played "jesus doesn't want me for a sunbeam" on unplugged. they also did "molly's lips" on incesticide. i think they did more but i can't remember.

I bought a Vaselines CD years back, knowing Nirvana were big fans, and I don't think I enjoyed or appreciated the whole folky sound of it before. I'll have to check and see if I still have it somewhere or not. Maybe I need to give them another chance now that I'm older.
