Has anyone been to one of the shows in the Freewheeling Yo La Tengo Tour?

I went to the Portland show yesterday. It was very good, although I would have preferred to see them electric. They played a lot of their older stuff, including their cover of Nuclear War by Sun Ra, which was fucking amazing by the way.

Their witty banter is quite entertaining. They thoroughly entertained the crowd.

M. Ward opened up for them. I had no idea who he was, and some guy in the restroom told me he collaborated with Bright Eyes. I thought they guy would have sucked, as I hate Bright Eyes, but he was actually really impressive. He ended up playing with them in their encore.

Overall, it was worth the $30 I paid ($20 for the ticket, $10 for Ticket Master's "convenience" fees).

So, has anyone else been?

i saw them saturday, but they played like they regularly do, at this festival, they played big day coming, stockholm syndrome, pass the hatchet, the weakest part, mr. tough, beanbag chair, tom courtenay, watch out for me ronnie and story of yo la tango plus a silly song between all of them vocalizing something while ira played drums with brushes, james played a snare and georgia played maracas.

story of yo la tango was devas-fucking-tating, one of the best moments in a concert i have ever witnessed.
