yes sir, I understand that. I'm just saying, that moving to the US does not disclude you from personal responsibility.

it's not like yr going to be sent to jail, or 'deported' without a (valid) birth certificate.

chances are, upon request for a copy, you would have been informed of the ($5) fee.

here's how, within a few clicks, I learned how much I'd have to pay THE STATE of CALIFORNICATION for a copy of mine (which I DID have to do, a few years back, while not living in California):

google.com > "fee for birth certificate california"

blink blink blink

Vital Record Fees

Certified Copies
  • Birth Certificate - $14
OH MY LAWS, $14!!! an outrage!

NOTE: THAT MIGHT cover the cost of the slow-ass US Govt employee that has to walk their happy ass to the copier/seal-stamping machine....

you might argue that you are being "forced" into paying $5 unnecessarily, but I still say, you are paying a small cost for the peace of mind in knowing that yr birth certificate is NO LONGER sitting inside some unsecure cabinet, in a school, in the town you were born. I don't know about you, but THAT (more so than $5) would keep me awake at night.
