i agree with some of your points, but the tone is a little harsh..
as in any art form, with music one needs to learn first.. for writers, the first prerequisite is to read, being literate does not make you a writer.. same thing applies for music.. it helps if you can play an instrument - punk DIY ethos helps here - but when you hear a piece of astounding music, you learn much more than what books on music can offer you..
