That's one of those reviews that used to cause people to write into NME questioning whether the reviewer actually went to the same gig as them. I wouldn't have called their performance riotous (I was delighted that it was was a bit slower paced than the times I saw them last year), the "crowd surfing, stage storming fans" numbered one, and the sound was a long way off MBV levels.
Maybe the reviewer is more used to piano recitals in the Purcell Room.
