DRONEVOLK FILM SCREENING

Mr. Brian Miller of Deathbomb Arc dropped off this little DVD one night, and after a short view, we realized the Echo Curio was the only place that could show it. Explore the world of European drone music, with the filmmaker Jef Mertens. Dronevolk revolves around four bands that play a prominent role in the ever growing drone and weirdfolk scene in Belgium. Jef Mertens made a selection of musicians to focus his film, not particularly on the scene itself, but more so on the people behind the music, their motivations and of course their MUSIC. From Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat's dark and moody folk, Bear Bones, Lay Low's drone based move to Belgium to Silvester Anfang's ungoing discussions and Ignatz' stories of playing on a boat, the film exhibits a certain RAWNESS through stumbling interviews, live footage and exclusive recording sessions. Shot straight to tape March through October 2007, Dronevolk serves as a music document for any self-respecting music lover. Expect some musical accompaniment with this substantial film.
