Tons of new bands (and post-60s in general) are "psychedelic" to me, but yea, just being "noisy" and having a broader sound palette than more straight garage rock isn't "psychedelic" to me. Again, I like Thee Oh Sees just fine.
Daughters of the Sun are defintiely psychedelic, as are White Hills, Sylvester Anfang II, Sun Araw, Mondo Drag....I could go on and on, really. I guess I am just protective of the term and don't like seeing it becoming too broadly applied (especially when it is a braod enoough brush already and always has been).
80s and 90s had tons of great psychedelia too. I'm no 60s purist.
