Trump has been a disaster through all this. His aggressive personality may be seen (by some) as viable in something like a trade dispute but seems entirely out of step in a crisis like this, which requires a skill-set he simply doesn't possess.

What may have saved Boris, at least for now, was the decision, by no means a norm in other countries, to furlough workers, which I'm sure has done much to pacify those most vulnerable to the financial impact of the lockdown. At least temporarily. So the real test for him is still to come, as he's forced to manage the eventual withdrawal of those funds from the many millions of people who won't have jobs to go back to after the lockdown is lifted.
