I was a contemporary of these fellows in Athens; I didn't like them all that much then as well as now. That's not to say it's all bad because a lot of it is worthwhile. Unfortunately the Chickasaw Mudd Puppies never saw any of the media attention that the E6 bands did. Many of the E6 titles from the nineties are very influential on "alternative" music to this day.
