Funny, I think the opposite. Gervais is just insufferable. He's a brilliant writer, but astonishingly annoying as a person. I'm almost tempted to say Americans get comedy right more often than Brits do. The Simpsons and Curb are two of the most sharply written things I've seen. And while Friends is INCREDIBLY irritating, it's also grimly compelling. I can't think of much British comedy that's as consistently funny as those three - Steptoe and Son, maybe.

Oh, and I can understand !£$% not liking Mitchell and Webb - they are good, but I feel like it's incredibly British humour.
