The Wisdom of King Joe Colli is the newest musical release from Teague Alexy’s book The New Folklore: Lyrical Tales for Dreamers & Thinkers. The Wisdom of King Joe Colli features Teague Alexy singing the part of narrator, Alan Sparhawk (Low, Retribution Gospel Choir) singing the multi-faceted part of King Joe Colli and Charlie Parr as the evil Don Von Braughan. The music is performed by The Feelin Band with Nicholas David on grand piano, Jeff Engholm on upright bass & horns, Paul Grill on drums, Teague Alexy on acoustic guitar & harmonica and Ryan Young (Trampled By Turtles) on violins & viola.

Described by Teague Alexy as “an attempt to blur poetry and magic,” The Wisdom of King Joe Colli is over ten minutes long and ten years in the making. Alexy's modern folktales are told in the tradition of magical realism; nonsensical on the surface, with strong underlying truths. ‘King Joe’ features drama, humor, lively characters, foreshadowing, complex rhyme schemes and clever wordplay in the unfamiliar context of an extended indie-Americana pop song. The transcendent voices of Alan Sparhawk and Charlie Parr help place the tale in its timeless setting.
