These days? Really? Pop gimmicks have been around since before pop was a real thing. Bear in mind that the Ink Spots - the biggest selling artists in the world at a time before anyone on this board was born - used barbershop as their gimmick.
And those 'before she was famous' things - she can play and sing well, but that doesn't stop those songs being ten-a-penny dogturd. I'm not saying she's become some grand auter of pop perfection, but she's a lot better as a pop 'thing' than yet another carping twat menstruating on a piano.
