I am a fan of this man though:
Barry Adamson
Queen Elizabeth Hall
Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 November 2007
Barry Adamson's love of jazz has always informed his music - from Miles Davis on the record player when he was young to his experience playing with Magazine and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to his trademark dark urban soundtracks. As Southbank Centre's Artist in Residence for this year's Jazz Festival, he takes us through his newest album that draws on jazz and blues for inspiration and examines the genre of the soundtrack in depth with an evening of collaborations and special performances.
From the first screech of a lonely night-time cotton-field violin, to the bop eccentric horn players, and onto the nonstop immediacy of the computerised loops and samples, jazz has remained the defiant history maker that refuses to roll over and play dead' (Barry Adamson).
Tickets go on sale to Southbank Centre Members only on Wednesday 22 August at 10am and will go on general sale on Friday 28 August at 9am.
