It's a general stereotyping, I think the people who think that their act was heroic or look up to them, are the same people who would tattoo themselves with a symbol of rebellion, just out of angst..... knowing nothing about the meaning of it in the first place.
As far as Manson, he sounds like a little sell out bitch! What a leader, what a visionary..... first sign of trouble, he converts to the next best thing.
