cgi in the case of avatar is not correction, the actors still have to be able to emote and take on a character, including voice acting in the case of avatar as well as the physical mapping of their bodies which is done via digital technologies. however cgi isn't about correction, cgi does have the capabilites to correct but it is more about the artform of animation. autotune is about the artform of producers making untalented scumfucks sound decent. very few people use autotune as an artistic choice, it is widely used as a corrective tool. i'm not sure how people can see a plugin in the same vein as a complete digital artform. if we are going to look at it like that then it is more akin to a clone or dodge and burn tool. i think is would be far from rational to reduce the artform that is cgi to something that is used to correct something that is done badly in the first place.
