That's like people who said we'll never how how it feels to fly, or get to the moon...or the earth is flat...
never say never.
It could be a very long time...and honestly, if we could get over our social problems we could definitley advance scientifically to the point where we could achieve anything...but I think our social problems will always hinder our science because our science has given us some very dangerous weapons.
We'll kill ourselves before we emancipate ourselves.
Just endless cycles of repeated rebirth...
