Yeah, I'm a male too and am a humanist rather than a feminist... Men aren't bad the same way the women aren't bad. I feel like Lydia sometimes lets her frustration turn into hatred but her intentions are still good, the same way I trust that your intentions are good in defending that guy for giving her shit.
