YOSHIMIO [YOSHIMI P-WE et al] - Yunnan Colorfree [CD+DVD set] (Commons 45720 A/B; Japan) Yoshimi P-We's "Yunnan Colorfree" is the soundtrack she created for the documentary of the same name. Basically a solo record along with a few guests, like Uta (her 5 year old daughter) and Kim Gordon doing a few vocals on some tracks and Yo2ro Tatekawa (who also guested on OOIOO's "Taiga") on miscellaneous percusion. "Yunnan Colorfree" is filled with OOIOO style Afro/Asian percussion and free jazz freak outs in the most psychedelic ways possible. Contains a cover of "Death Valley 69" sung by Gordon. An extraordinary mind blowing release! Wait, that's not all; there is also an amazing DVD! The DVD (42 minutes long, the same length as the cd) documents the colorful and artistic styles of the Yunnan women. Yunnan is aprovince in southwestern China, on the border of Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar. Colorfree is kind of a misnomer, for these ladies styles are extremely vibrant! So is the music! Yoshimi's compositions are interspersed with real audio from the sources being filmed. The intricate designs of the Yunnan textiles bring an kinship to the South American and African textile designs on the surface, but hold their own. Each textile design highly unique like music on this documentary without words. I am in total awe of these ladies styles! The video leaves one with a feeling of peacefulness and wonder creating a multimedia lullabye. Extremely inspired and inspirational! A must have for any Boredoms fan.

we were wondering about the second album here:
