Plus I found a video of a guy demonstrating the same "organ effect" on a different model Framus, and a bulletin board which explains that the effect is "a spring controlled lever for pannig the tone between the PU's". The Framus vintage archive I linked to before tantalizingly and perplexingly calls it a "half-mechanical organ effect". Not very organ-like to my ears based on this video demonstration, maybe more convincing with louder amp, effects,etc...

TMI perhaps? Very cool vintage Jazzmaster/Jaguar inspired guitars with their own thing going on.
