I can see why the ref gave a red but it still looked harsh. I just think they need to use a bit more discretion. Nanis foot was high but it didnt really hurt anyone and nor, from what i saw, was it intended to. A yellow card would've been perfectly reasonable. Maybe it's me but I can't see any real comparison between what Nani did and the de Jong 'tackle', which seemed solely aimed at taking a player out. if Nani warrants a red because his foot was high and could've potentially caused an injury, then overhead kicks will also have to be outlawed. And what about a flying header? Most of us know a truly dangerous challenge when we see one and I just don't think Nani's was.
