"ZDB is one of the few venues I know that celebrates the mysterious, the curious, the margins, the visions of the outer realms of music and art experimentation. The actions that motivate and transmutate into the underpinnings of mainstream process. And, as such, is of utmost cultural significance. And it is done with joy! When I first experienced ZDB I met a beautiful dog the size of a Volkswagen Beetle, and a host of volunteers and artists working in the building that were open to all new surprises and thoughtful ruminations. From showing the work of radical artists involved with the Black Panther movement of radical 60s USA to the free noise extrapolations of Wolf Eyes and the intersection of myself playing in duo with Margarida Garcia or in trio with local Lisbon fire-heads Gabriel Ferrandini and Pedro Sousa ZDB is the place for love and discovery. I would move there and be resident poet improviser with a key if the invitation came in the mail today. Or at least run the bookstore for a while.
Love, Thurston Moore, writing while on tour, right now in Portland, Oregon USA October 2014"

thanks mr T.
