Tom Robbins has quite a large cult following. As does Douglas Coupland. I know for a fact that they have hardcore fans who ritualistically buy every new book on the day of publication, who trek around the world for readings and signings.

The Katherine Dunn cult is rather "Geek Love" specific, but she's still a cult writer. I know people with "Geek Love"-themed tattoos... BIG ones.
