It's not a cheap laugh, for sure. In fact, after i've watched it several times i've found it to be a bit sad, or certainly the Nathan Barley character came accross to me as almost tragic and trapped into himself. It's also quite a realistic casting of an individual that exists in reality, so it makes it funny but in a fucked up way.
