Strictly speaking, pop has often included elements of 'noise'. But that's hardly the point.

We turn up. We play some instruments. Sometimes well, sometimes not. It's not really noise, but it's a bit too loud/ badly recorded to be properly improv. It is fun to play, whether it's fun to listen to is really up to our 'audience' (such as they are).

Anyway, keep on buying and supporting your local tape vendor.
