There was a great programme on the BBC about this the other night. A sort of roundtable discussion made up of top political analysts from various European countries. They basically agreed that McCain is simply a man out of step with his time and that by selecting him the Republicans have effectivly conceeded defeat. The only one who seemed to go against that view was a French pundit who, while recognising that McCain was indeed of another time, pointed out that so are an awful lot of the American people. He predicted a McCain win. The others said it was gonna be close but that it'd go to Obama.
