Your Totally right Sonicl. I think its because 'North' America has such a culture of classification, everyone has to fit into a catagory. You read through the pages on this site and sometimes it appears people are scared shitless to name bands they like that are not 'Indie'. Like if a band actually writes a real melody, they are suddenly not cool. I don't understand why you should be 'ashamed' to listen to anything. Some people need to stop taking things so seriously and lighten up...It takes a miserable sod not to go to the local rock club and be able to enjoy singing 'Helena' with their friends. As I said, either I have the most amazing, open minded friends or this musical snobbory is not so much a part of British culture.

Not intended to start an argument, just an observation
