Rule #1 to reading a Sonic Youth interview or article: don't believe anything Thurston says. He's not "absent minded", he's the king of bullshit. I say that as a big fan who gets what he's up to. He still finds it amusing that people from Rolling Stone and the like would even ask him anything, and enjoys feeding them lines in his perfect deadpan to see what they'll print.

Given that the new album will be on an indie, of course he'd dis the major label. He knows PR better than Karl Rove. Thankfully, he's on our side.
