I think there were a few poster campaigns for Last House on Dead End Street that did it, and they definitely did it with the Italian film House on the Edge of the Park/'La casa sperduta nel parco'. That may be the one you're talking about in terms of the 'technical' remake. It starred David Hess and had a very similar plotline to Craven's original. Not a bad film, either. From what I remember.
