Just as an aside to this thread, I wouldn't say these two are necessarily 'pushing things forward', but they are mates of mine and have both made really very good records recently.

Skjolbrot is one chap and some sort of sample processing... It's a difficult one to describe, but it's the first record I've listened to in a long while that's made me go 'what the fuck is happening here?' Lush packaging and one of the best possible production considering most of it is effectively a bedroom production.

It's a Lunken, who've got a CD out that's simply one of the better things I've ever heard out of the 'Doom' thing (although that's a very loose term). It's basically metal concrete, lots of really smart jump-cuts and noise effects that aren't anything like 'look how clever we are'. Again, a lovely sounding record. I'd say their myspace doesn't do them justice though.
