He is a genius. I listen to one of his albums at least once a week.

Right now, I'm rocking the Safe as Milk re-release with the Strictly Personal (and a song from Bat Chain and a song from Ice Cream for Crow) songs that were outtakes from the Safe as Milk sessions that sound a thousand times better than what appeared on those albums.

I read an interview with him from 1988 or so where he said that he even though he was painting full time, he still composed music and wanted to return to the music world at some point, but obviously that never happened. He said, "I've written some pretty wild stuff." Sigh.
