the fact is though that thurston moore and avril lavigne operate at opposite ends of the spectrum. not so much in terms of age but in terms of their position/role within the industry. pretty much since there's been punk there's been an underground and a pop side. besides, there's a good chance that a lot of people first exposed to punk music via something like sk8r boi eventually went on to get into sy. i thought that, for what they were, her first two albums were great. for thurston to compare her with yoko ono is missing the point of what avril lavigne actually was in the first place.
