Get an M-box with the lastest version of Pro-Tools (they come together). When I bought it a few years ago I was able to haggle it down to about $450 or so (the retail price was $500 at the time), so im guessing now it should be less than that.

Its a little more than youre looking to spend, but just save up. Its worth it. Pro-tools (as im sure probably know) is basically what all the professionals are using these days and has become an industry standard. Really great software and Im finally taking a class on how to do everything with it.
