You should check out the drummer's old band, Hunting Lodge (Dan's one of the finer guitarists in the area) and Tony MAIOF's innumerable solo projects MAIOF and and Maiovvi (Italo disco), or Geisha. While we're about it, you might like to check out twocsinak, Rose Kemp, the mighty Scarlatti Tilt (smallest-handed bassist EVER!) and the utterly amazing UK hate grind who once licked my eyeball.

Bands on interminable hiatus locally include Widget Evil (AKA one of the great lost bands of our times) and Itchy Tasty.

My current favourite local band are Enzuiguri, who really do pwn quite hard live (and their new EP is pretty sparkly too).

A non-local band that are double-awesome-core are Sunshine Republic
