It's really not a great album. It's only so so. It has some nice melodies and grooves on it, but it really is a step down from there usual LP releases. I really wish they had released a different (aka better) album than this, but it will do. It's not all that bad. It's just not nearly as good as most of their albums in quite some time. I'd give it 3 stars. But from Sonic Youth you really tend to expect more. Perhaps we have just been spoiled with a very talented band who almost never put out substandard material. A lot of other bands put out brilliant material and then release crap-fest after crap-fest. SY doesnt normally do that. They are pretty consistantly amazing.
