well the thing that needs to be said about Derogatis is that he works for the Chicago Sun-Times which is a breeding ground for extremely optionated nationally known smucks which include Robert "leak CIA agents identities to ruin lives" Novak, Ebert and Roeper, and for those sports fans the extremely annoying Jay Mariotti (of course you hate hockey, you live in Chicago, you piss your pants in fear at the mere mention of the Red Wings)
and while i am not generalizing, there seems to be a larger prick to person ratio in Chicagoland, hell Pitchforkmedia is based outta Chicago, Brent DiCrescenzo was so bad that even Pitchfork couldn't stand him anymore
