I've just watched
Barry Lyndon by Stanley Kubrick for the first time and I have to say it's now one of my favorite movies ever. The best movie Kubrick ever directed.
First of all, the opening shot is absolutely amazing
The whole movie is just perfect and the final duel is just one of the most epic scenes of all time.
Then, I want to quote the text at the very end of the movie which proves that Kubrick is one of the most pessimist directors of all time:
"It was in the reign of George III that the aforesaid personages lived and quarelled. Good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor, they are all equal now."
Watch it.
