What if there was a fiction film that chronicled the early days of Sonic Youth in the 1980's, say from their first gig to the first show with Steve Shelley, but every single person who has ever been in the band was played by THEMSELVES circa 2007.
This is a wild, self-consciously avant-garde, Luis Bunuel/Todd Haynes/Todd Solondz casting strategy, yes. But who else could actually pretend to be these human beings?
